Two weeks ago I was working on masks using YouTube videos. The beige one in this picture is made of the recommended tight weave, 100% cotton pillow case, plus two cotton/poly blend layers and an inside pocket for a paper towel insert. It took me two whole afternoons to organize and sew this mask together. The two other masks are modified "no sew" masks made from 100% cotton t-shirts and also have an inside pocket for paper towel. They each took 20 minutes to make, hence they are now my favourite design though apparently they're a few percentage points less effective than the pillowcase design. Having the paper towel will improve them though. We had a couple of issues while in stores when one of these masks that seemed fine at the outset wasn't actually fine when in use. Some trial and error has been necessary in figuring out which designs work best. In addition to these, I also ordered three other locally made masks since we're going to need several each given that they need to be washed after each use. For now we're still wearing the surgical masks I ordered, but will use these when those run out.
