Today we did every day things that needed doing, like groceries and getting my traveller's phone plan topped up for the next few weeks. For lunch we had an obligatory stop at McD's which I had promised Bean we would do once during our stay here when we found out there was one in Almunecar. Before that we also did some exploring through the little streets and alleys of the town that are a bit like old Granada city but on a smaller scale.
After lunch, I drove four minutes to the site of the local Roman aquaduct. We parked and were happy to find a little playground at the ground level where Bean ran and climbed and practiced his newly accomplished swinging skills (thanks to Sunshine's encouragement). Afterwards, we hiked to the top of the hill behind the aquaduct, about a 15 minute climb. There is currently a warning not to touch a certain kind of poisonous caterpillar in this area so I reminded Bean to be careful of them, in case we came across them which we didn't. Aside from a truck with two workmen in it at the base, there was nobody there but us,
so it really felt like an exploration and our own private adventure. It was beautiful at the top and I was so glad at how Bean expressed his delight that we were there and how much he was enjoying the hike. All my hikes through the woods with him in the stroller since he was a baby seem to be paying off!
